Personally, I think she is comparing her own feelings towards Marilyn's.
Maybe the feelings get newfound fame has brought her? The pressure to be perfect, because you're always in the public eye and being judged. She talks about the major downs she sometimes feels, and feels there's no way she'll be ever to pick herself back up again; as well as major highs she feels, where everything is going good for her and she feels "on top of the world". She is expressing how she looks up to Marilyn and wants to learn from her, yet doesn't wanna lose herself like Marilyn had, who eventually committed suicide. Every person has "good days" and their "bad". Take them for all they are, or not at all. That's the point of the song.
